Great question!
You know how there’s always that person at work whom everyone goes to for computer help? Or for looking over the company newsletter before it’s sent out? Or to organize the office Christmas party? Well, that person was ME! I always helped my friends and co-workers with writing and editing their documents, explaining how social media works (and how to avoid hacking scams and encouraging fact-checking), and organizing one event or another. No matter where I worked, I still became this person.
I have taught leadership and public speaking at a major University, written and edited over 100 educational publications, worked as a Private Investigator, was an event planner for a non-profit foundation in Washington, D.C., and taught reading and math to elementary-age children. I have two Bachelor’s Degrees from the University of Oregon and a Master’s Degree from the University of Oklahoma. While I currently reside in the Portland, Oregon, area, I have also lived overseas (Australia and Japan).
All T's Crossed Virtual Assistant Services came about while I was recovering from toe surgery. (Yes, I’m just so graceful that I literally stubbed my toe bad enough to need multiple surgeries and was laid up for a few months.) Just before this, I had decided to shake up my career and put in my notice to my current job that I would be moving on. While this was a convenient way to recover from my injuries, I soon became stir-crazy and wanted to do something more productive.
…Enter a college friend.
She told me about a colleague of hers who needed some off-site administrative assistance. We connected, and it was beautiful. All T's Crossed was born. Word of mouth spread the business, and now my company is thriving.
I work mostly from home; however, you can find me in a coffee shop a few days a week (a girl’s gotta have a latte now and then!). While I began this business coordinating calendar events and setting appointments, much of my work has evolved into social media management and editing/proofreading. I thoroughly enjoy the organizational challenges calendar management and event planning can employ, but the details of maintaining accurate and timely social media posts and proofreading are where my specialties reside.
